About Me

I grew up in a house in the woods with some wooly goats.

I spent a year working at the University of Oregon as a research assistant researching the effects of dnmt1 and background on mef2ca- zebra fish craniofacial cartilage development.

In 2015 I joined the IBM edge computing team and had a fun time pushing neural nets out to little edge devices which listened to the birds sing and reported when they woke up. I also did some nice real time training audio models on small Arm devices.

Then in 2018 I moved over to the IBM cloud team and got to play with the big computers and crunch petabytes of logs.

In 2021, I took a break from the big computers to study bitslice logic and make CPU cores move bits around really fast before returning to use AVX-512 bitslicing to perform peta-ops of compute for cheap to do timing analysis on trillions of events. Everything in creation leaks correlation, and if we crunch enough data, the noise averages out and we can see the patterns.

Now I’m working on some independent projects, evaluating powerful cellular autamata on SIMD.

If you want to make your rust code run very fast on Arm or AVX-512, consider hiring me. I have extensive experience with high performance rust at a variety of scales.
